Are you planning for a photo session at the beach in Mallorca? A bit worried about how to prepare best? Please don’t stress!
As a local Mallorca photographer, here are my 4 simple tips on how to make the best of you beach photo session:

Outfits and Accessories – mix and match tips for your photo session at the beach in Mallorca

Do: Plain neutrals work best. Choose either light or dark tops as they are best in close-ups. For family photos, color-coordinates look awesome, no need to wear the same color tough — complementaries look great too. Throw in a few accessories and props that bring out your personality for more fun!

Don’t: Large prints, logos and anything that will draw attention from your faces are a big no no. If you want to wear bright colorful patterns, make sure to bring a second more neutral change of clothing.

Location – Mallorca’s best options for a beach photo session

If you choose the beaches on Mallorca’s east side for your session you have the choice between long open and smaller sandy beaches. There are also lots of intimate little coves to be discovered. On the other side of the island stand giant rocks and therefore a more surreal landscape: Rocky points, mountain ranges & cliffs. Different locations show their best at certain times of the day. Your photographer will advise you accordingly about the best options meeting your vision for a beach photo session.

Timing  – because lighting is everything for a photo session at the beach

Photographers all over the world especially love two times of the day for great natural lighting:

Sunrise: Soft morning light illuminating your faces when the world wakes up to a new day is one of every photographer’s delights. Even though I am not a morning person sunrise is my favorite time for a photo session at the beach in Mallorca as there are less tourists and the air is still cool.

Sunset: If you can’t make it in the early morning, we plan for a sunset beach session when the setting sun turns everything into golden light. The air will be still quite warm so prepare accordingly (bring sun hat & water!).

Both times are what photographers call the Golden Hour. Aside from that enchanting aura of the surroundings, your skin will look flawless and glowing at this time of the day. If you want the best results from your photo session at the beach — stick to sunrise or sunset!

Be in the moment!

While good preparation for your photo session at the beach is important there comes a moment where you need to let go. When your photo session starts stop worrying about what looks good and doesn’t. Trust your photographer! He will lead you step by step and tell you what to do. Most importantly, just be yourselves and savor the experience with your loved ones. Be present! Have fun, show your love, share some laughs and trust that these real emotions will come out in your photos to last a lifetime.
